“The big masquerade usually dances last, and when that time comes, we shall separate the boys from the men.”
This is the response of the Chief Spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Festus Keyamo, to those insinuating the All Progressives Congress, APC’s campaign is being delayed by the ill-health of its Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting to the insinuation, in a tweet on his Twitter handle, Keyamo described those going to town with such notion, as neophytes, which means people who are new to a subject or activity – in this case, the APC campaign style or pattern.
The Director of Public Affairs of the PCC reminded those spreading the rumour that the party started its campaigns for the 2019 election on November 18, 2018, noting that in line with its usual culture, the APC inaugurated its campaign council about 50 days later.
He explained that just like in 2019, the APC in its usual style has decided to allow the smaller masquerades and perhaps cubs, to introduce the show, by commencing their campaigns, while the big masquerade or better still lion prepares for the grand performance or roar.
His words: “It is not the same ease with which you start and manoeuvre a 50-ton trailer that you start and manoeuvre a 4-cylinder engine car. But when both machines jam on the highway, you will know which is which! When our campaigns rev up, we shall separate the boys from the men!”
