Dr. Sunday Abodunrin, Vicar, St. Jude Anglican Church, Ijeun Abeokuta, has urged Nigerians to show love to one another irrespective of religion or ethnic affiliation.
Abodunrin spoke while delivering a sermon at the Funeral Service for late Mrs Wuraola Akinola, held at the Cathedral of St. Peters , Ake, Abeokuta on Friday.
The deceased was the mother of the Managing Director, Marvelous Mike Press Limited, Abuja, Mr Micheal Akinola.
The cleric called on everyone to continue calling on the name of God in order for the nation to overcome its challenges.
He explained that the country would become a better place when everyone showed love to one another irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliation.
He noted that love supersedes every other thing.
Abodunrin called on everyone living soul to emulate the late Mrs Akinola’s way of life, saying she impacted her community, church and everyone who came across her.
” How will people describe you when you are gone. Make sure you reexamine yourselves. Our late mother was a great, true and sincere elder in the church.
” She lived for the purpose of humanity. What has been your own contribution to the church and your environment. Let us continue to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ,” he said.
He appealed to the children to sustain the legacies left behind by their mother, urging them to emulate their late mother’s good deeds while on earth.
Speaking about his mother, Micheal Akinola, described her as a cheerful giver, God fearing and an encourager.
“My mother was a great mother, there is a great lessons I have learnt from her in which has brought me to where I am today.
“She loves God so much and always encourage me. She contributed to the House of God, because there is a blessing when one sow in the house of God,” he said.
Alhaji Ibrahim Wushishi, Chief Executive Officer for the National Examinations Council (NECO), described the late Akinola as a woman of substance who devoted her life to better the lives of her children.
Dignitaries at the Church service included Iyalode of Yoruba land, Alaba Lawson , Prof. Jibu Ojerinde, Former JAMB registrar, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) pastors from Abuja among others.
The late Akinola was later laid to rest at St. Jude Cemetery, Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta.
