The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has appealed to the Yoruba to ignore the comment credited to governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Ladi Adebutu, that the SouthWest is greedy for demanding the presidency in 2023.
The Association appealed to Yoruba to forgive Adebutu’s ignorance and not give his comment any serious attention.
According to the students, Adebutu was reported to have said on Monday that, the Yoruba should not to be selfish and support the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.
According to Adebutu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and interim Head of State Ernest Shonekan from the SouthWest geopolitical zone have been Nigerian leaders at separate times while nobody from the North-East has been the first citizen.
But, reacting to Adebutu’s comment, the National President of NAOSS, Oluwagbemileke Ogunrombi in a statement on Tuesday in Abeokuta , said Adebutu should be ignored and should not be taking serious.
“We want to believe that Adebutu made the comment out of his ignorant point of view.
“How can Adebutu accused the Yoruba of being greedy for demanding the presidency?
“We consider his comment a great insult to the entire Yoruba race. But, we plead with the Yoruba to ignore Adebutu.
“But, we want caution him to desist from misleading the people with uncultured, ignorant comments,” Ogunrombi said.
